Mrs Bradley

Role:
Year 3 Teacher

Year 3 did so well with the Up, Up and Away transition topic, writing poems about flying and completing non-fiction work on Richard Branson and Amy Johnson. After week 3, it was time to launch our new topic… ‘Festivals’. We have made a fantastic start looking at maps to plot festivals, writing instructions describing how they made their brilliant Sukkahs that were completed at home and playscripts for Rama and Sita. The children enjoyed learning traditional dances from around the world and they were able to include these in our Year 3 assembly. Miss Williams and Mrs Bradley were thrilled to see the children working in groups to research and write playscripts for their own section of the assembly. The entire year group have thoroughly enjoyed our Science focus this term, taking a particular interest in the properties of rocks and having to use thinking and numeracy skills to plan, carry out and record the results of a fair test.

Moving forward, we cannot wait to continue with our topic and focus on Hannukah and Christmas. We shall be looking at extended and descriptive writing in English. In D&T, Miss Williams and Mrs Bradley are looking forward to trying some tasty celebration cakes (healthy ones, of course) that will be designed and made by the children. This will be another opportunity for numeracy across the curriculum as both classes will be weighing, finding halves and quarters of recipes, temperature and preparation / cooking time.
