Role:
Year 1 Teacher

Year One

Year one have covered a number of literacy skills so far this term. We have written a thank you letter to Lodge Farm Church, written our news discussing what we did in half-term, described and created characters for a story and written an alternative ending to a story. We have also been learning how to complete comprehension questions, form letters correctly and learn knew phonic blends.

We have been working hard learning mathematical skills too. We work on our own, in pairs and in groups. We have talked about the properties of shape, teen numbers, bonds to 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10, amounts using money to name a few. Here we are measuring using blocks. Following this we used a ruler and metre ruler to measure in and around the classroom.

We celebrated Harvest Festival in school and

visited Lodge Farm Church to celebrate with them.

We have also celebrated Diwali and Bonfire

 night so far this term.

We blended the background to a firework picture using pastels. Look how messy we are getting! Later we will add detail with glitter to create the fireworks.
